Dr. Edward G. Rogoff is a professor in the Department of Management at the Zicklin School of Business, Baruch College, The City University of New York as well as the founder of Newton Business Programs, an organization designed to help businesses and entrepreneurs improve professional performance.
Dr. Rogoff is Academic Director of the Lawrence N. Field Center for Entrepreneurship at Baruch College. His responsibilities have included helping hundreds of entrepreneurs develop their business plans, training business counselors, and organizing conferences. Under his stewardship, Baruch was ranked 18th nationally in undergraduate schools for entrepreneurship by Entrepreneur magazine and The Princeton Review.
His book Bankable Business Plans was originally published in 2003, to which a second edition was released in early 2007. Jeff Bezos, the Founder and CEO of Amazon.com wrote in the foreword to Bankable Business Plans: "I knew Ed before I started Amazon.com. I believe his experiences with his own successful ventures and as a professor of entrepreneurship make him an excellent person to guide you from initial idea through the creation of an effective plan that will serve the needs of your customers and investors." Dr. Rogoff’s next book, coauthored with Michael Corbett, The Entrepreneurial Conversation, was published in 2005.
In 2005, Dr. Rogoff was a founder of Newton Business Programs to address the need for an entrepreneurial-focused business training company that offers a full range of quality programs to deliver knowledge and skills training from both the entrepreneurial practitioner and expert point-of-view. Dr. Rogoff teaches and conducts research in entrepreneurship, particularly relative to education, ethnicity, economic impacts, and regulation. He has published in numerous journals, including The Journal of Business and Entrepreneurship, The Journal of Developmental Entrepreneurship, Family Business Review, and Journal of Small Business Management. He has written articles for the New York Times, Forbes, and Newsday, and has been a frequent guest on CNN and CNNfn.
Prior to his work at Newton Business Programs, Dr. Rogoff founded and was CEO of two media companies that owned 23 radio stations throughout the United States. Throughout his career, Dr. Rogoff has consulted to a variety of businesses including venture capital firms, entrepreneurs in virtually every industry, private education companies, urban transportation companies, governments, communications companies, and technology firms.
He received a B.A., M.B.A., M.A. and Ph.D. from Columbia University, where he wrote his dissertation under the supervision of Nobel Laureate William Vickery.
